Prenatal Exposure to Popular Pesticide Linked to Abnormal Structural Changes in the Brain

Changes in the brain have been found in prenatal children when exposed to a pesticide called chlorpyrifos. Damage to the brain have been found many years later in older children with some brain damage. Most of the change came from the cortex and affected intelligence, personality and muscle movements. It causes thinning in some areas and growth in other areas. Scientists are urging mothers to stay away from the pesticide during the vulnerable times of prenatal development.
