Salt-tolerant wheat discovery to tackle food shortages

In direct correlation to the discourses conferred on GMOs, Scientists in Australia have seemingly produced a high-yielding salt-tolerant plant that will strive to overcome the world footages arising from the amount of acidity present in the soil. This new hybrid relatively performed at par with commercial wheat (without the genes) under normal conditions but substantially outperformed it under salty terrain. Through the cross-breeding of a modern wheat variety with its wild ancestral cousin to generate such salt-tolerant crops, it will certainly be an important tool to ensure future food security on our planet.
