Computer Memory

A study by the Mayo Clinic found that people who used the computer on a regular basis and participated in moderate exercise were less likely to experience age related memory loss.  This is because it is believed that using a computer almost like a work out for one’s brain.  This is because there is a higher level of brain function needed to use a computer than other things such as a television.  However, the article also says that moderate exercise is needed for these results to come to fruition.  This is important because you cannot simply sit on the computer all day and expect to remember everything that is happening.  Exercise is good for the brain and body because it increases the heart rate which allows more blood to be pumped to the body.  This means that more oxygen and nutrients can reach different parts of the body including the brain.  Therefore this combination of mental and physical work outs can help to prevent memory loss with age.  These findings are significant however because it can help in the treatment of those suffering from memory loss.  If the correct combination of computer use and exercise is discovered it can help to prevent further memory loss in patients.
