Probiotics Reduce Antibiotic Diarrhea
Diarrhea is a common side effect from taking antibiotics since antibiotics affect both good and bacteria in the intestines and ultimately disrupt the fragile balance between the two. Researchers found that 42% of those who were using probiotics while taking their antibiotics were less likely to develop diarrhea. Probiotics are commonly found in yogurts , cheese, miso and tempeh (forms of fermented soy), and fermented cabbage. It is unclear which microorganisms work best to reduce the development of diarrhea.
