Red meat has many benefits for athletes, magazine says

At a time when the London Olympics draws nearer and health-conscious athletes strictly adhere to the consumption of chicken and fish as viable sources of protein, Runner’s World author, Jessica Girdwain, avers that red meat could potentially be healthier for athletes. She affirms that red meat provides nutrients such as iron that is absolutely vital for runners to maintain those unreal energy levels. Moreover, it also supplies amino acids that repair small muscle tears that transpire during training. Therefore, lean cut of beef is a great source of zinc and iron which could help convert those very same carbohydrates into the fuel needed to win that 100m sprint!
