Researcher says sugar is as addictive as cocaine


Inferring and extrapolating data from brain scans, A California-based endocrinologist named Dr. Robert Lustig asserts that sugar is as addictive as cocaine. He affirms that as sugar has an affinity and propensity to cause an euphoric effect that triggers the chemical that controls pleasure in the brain, excessive consumption of sugar can initiate and prompt similar addictiveness that are experienced when inhaling cocaine. The article confers that an average American consumes a third of a pound of sugar every year- increasing his/her predilection of the aforementioned entity which greatly increases the likelihood of the formation of LDL cholesterol in the arteries, which can generate Type 2 diabetes and obesity.
