Fossil Biology- Iceman diet consisted of moss

A recent analysis of the 5,200 year old iceman, Oetzi, revealed six different mosses in his intestines. Moss has no nutritious value to it, so reasons are unclear as to why he was eating it.  The effect of the moss, which were used as household items back in the day, is unknown, and may have contributed to the death of the iceman, who decided to ultimately kill himself.
