Safe to Screen?



While scientists still don’t agree with researchers whether it is safe for women to get regular mammograms, research has found that consulting with a doctor on an individual basis is best because you can then figure out if you need to or not depending on your risk factors. These risk factors include family history, age, weight, whether you’ve given birth or not, and your drinking and smoking habits. The risks of getting a mammogram include false positive that lead to testing and unnecessary treatment, and the dose of radiation itself that is used for the testing.
