Once-Banned Bird Flu Study Suggests Pandemic Threat Is Real

The study on H5N1 birdflu was orginally banned, but recently this ban has been lifted as many scientists think further study of this might help counter the threat of a future pandemic.  The original reason it was banned was due primarily to the risk of having such dangerous information available to the public, but the risk of the birdflu virus evolving yet again has made the governmetn retract this ban - a pandemic is a very real possibility says a research in the article.  Also, some claim this information is not as dangerous as originally thought because the study animals were ferets, which are so unrelated to humans that this doesn't pose much of a threat for biologically warfare.
