Stents No Better Than Medicine for Stable Heart Disease, Study Says

For many years, people with heart disease would undergo an expensive procedure to implant a stent when a recent study shows medication to be just as effective.  Stents cost an average of $9500, which is money most people simply do not have.  Having medication as an option will increase the lifespan of many with stable heart disease.  However, chest pain is still more prevelent with those patients who opted for medication instead of a stent so although it prevents against heart attacks equally, pain is still an issue for those who decide to take medication instead of get a stent.
