New Inflammatory Target

Scientist from Queen Mary University in London has discover that inflammation can be fought by a new therapy. The research has revealed that tiny organelles called primary cilia are very important in the regulation of inflammation. The team exposed cartilage cells to a group of inflammatory proteins called cytokines. They then observed to see if there were any changes to the primary cilia. The researchers said at the end of all of this that if they could find a way to manipulate the cilia, that they could potentially attenuate or prevent inflammation, which would be a great way of solving arthritis.
