Nano-Bombs: Treating Acne?

A bioengineering student from UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering created a new potential treatment for acne, in which nano-scale bombs filled with lauric acid latch to acne causing bacteria.  In order to prevent sticking together of the nano-bombs, the student coated them with gold nano-particles that serve the additional function of helping locate the bacteria. However, further testing is necessary in order to ensure that it would be safe in human candidates.
