Midlife depression can increase risk of dementia later on
A study has shown that people in their middle ages who experience midlife depression can be at increased risk of getting dementia later on. The study also went on to say that people who are diagnosed with depression later in their life have an increased chance of getting Alzheimers while people who were diagnosed with depression earlier in the middle of their life got dementia and not Alzheimers. Vascular dementia is when blood flow to some parts of the brain are interrupted which cause mini-strokes. Overall the study says that midlife depression does precede dementia.
