Can Less Red Meat Add Up to a Longer Life?

A new study at Harvard has brought in some new speculations about the effect of processed and unprocessed red meat on the lifespan of men and women. For 20 years, 120,000 men and women in their forty's and fifty's have had their eating habits monitored and compared. Now, the data has be analyzed and the results may be shocking. Harvard scientists have seen from the data that those men and women who ate a daily serving of red meat had a 21% chance of dying of heart disease greater than their non-red meat eating counterparts. Along with heart disease, their chances of dying of cancer were increased by 16%. Those who ate processed red meat had a increase in heart disease of 18% and cancer of 10%. While the test is not conclusive, they can officially state that processed meat is definitely more harmful than unprocessed/natural red meat.
