A study found that a certain compound called kartogenin induces stem cells to produce cartilage. Kartogenin could potentially help humans regrow lost cartilage, something that is not possible right now. As people age they naturally lose cartilage in their bodies, and some diseases such as osteoperosis speed up this process. With kartogenin the loss of cartilage could be slowed or stopped.
