Research has shown that brain stimulation can lead to a quicker recovery of language in people who have had a stroke or other brain injury. The study had participants name pictures on notecards, while some received jolts to Broca's area on the left side of the brain, and others did not. The participants who received the electrical stimulation progressed much quicker in picture recognition than those that did not.
