Evolution of Sex Differences: Battles of Sexes Shown to Spur Adaptive Sex Differences

Scientists were able to turn the clock behind on evolution and see how water striders evolved to be the way they are today. The scientists were looking at the antenna on males used in sexual attraction.  The male with the bigger and more complex antenna got to mate more frequently than a male with a feminine antenna.  They were able to change the gene that modified the antenna.  Once this gene was isolated and altered they were able to see a correlation between the different antennas.
