Scientists have conducted a study using stem cells to treat patients with chronic ischemic heart disease and left ventricular dysfunction. The study composed of 92 patients averaging the age of 63 split into two groups, a test and placebo group. Those who received the stem cells showed an increase of 2.7% in left ventricular pumping pressure. Although the stem cell treatment did not fix the patients' ailments, it provided data to help future clinical trials using stem cell therapy.
