Psychedelics Drugs Help the Terminally Ill

Far out, man. A recent study conducted at Johns Hopkins gave 22 cancer patients psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, to see how the drug affected their depression. Almost 100% of the recipients reported that the experience was one of the five most meaningful experiences of their life, if not the most meaningful. Doctors theorize that psilocybin appears to deactivate specific areas of the brain associated with the sense of self, which are overactive in depressed individuals, and eased anxiety.
