Mole Rat Secret
At the University of Illinois a study was conducted that may lead to better understand treatments for heart attacks and strokes. Studying the naked mole rat may give clues as to how to keep brain cells alive and functioning with very little oxygen. Calcium plays a large role in the findings and may hold many of the answers as to how its possible to prevent calcium channels from closing which only becomes a problem during a heart attack or stroke. Much research still needs to be conducted but there is a lot to be learned from such a tolerant animal!http://www.macroevolution.net/naked-mole-rats.html#.T5dkf1KIAk4
