Potential New Treatment For Heart Failure

Using a new process not involving stem cell transplants, scientists at Duke have turned the  scar tissue  that forms after a heart attack into heart muscle cells. microRNAs were used to trigger the cardiac tissue conversion. This was tested in a rat, but if they find that it works in humans they could treat the 23 million people who suffer from heart failure.
