There has been a single-celled organism found in Norway that has been called "mankind's furthest relative". It actually is being considered a whole new branch (kingdom) in the tree of life. The organism is a type of protozoan and is one of the oldest living organisms that scientists know of on the planet. Being between 30 and 50 micrometers, it is very small and eats algae. There is still debate whether it should be given it's own classification.
