Damaged Kidney Removed From One Recipient, Thrives in Another

After waiting ten years for a kidney transplant, Ray Fearing finally received his much needed organ in June of 2011 from his sister. A few days after his operation, doctors took a biopsy and found that Fearing's body was destroying the kidney. Fearing then told doctors that he would like to donate the kidney donated to him to another patient in need. The doctors had to move fast, but the kidney surprisingly thrived in the new patient, something that has never been done before. This new breakthrough could lead to future procedures in the result of rejected kidneys.
