A scientist who grew up in India has begun to examine the possibilities the Neem tree has in helping to stop the spread of HIV. The tree was used in her village growing up as a sort of pharmacy, used to cure any sort of diseases. She has taken this idea and has started to apply it to more modern diseases and problems. She found previous research that showed HIV-AIDs patients who were given Neem tree extracts had a lower number of HIV particles in their blood. She has found that many Neem compounds attack the HIV protease.
