When comparing now and when the Titanic sailed, a ship going out today would encounter even more icebergs than the Titanic did. The Earth’s temperature has increased about 1.44 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880. This increase in temperature is increasing the rate at which icebergs form. The logic is that more icebergs can form because glaciers are melting, bringing more water into the oceans for icebergs to form out of.
