Food Deserts & Obesity

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/18/health/research/pairing-of-food-deserts-and-obesity-challenged-in-studies.html?ref=health

Food deserts do have grocery stores and a higher number of fast food restaurants than a suburban city. The problem is that there is no access to fresh food in the grocery stores because of high prices. Food deserts are located in poor urban parts of cities. The residents often times do not have access to transportation outside of where they live so they are stuck with the food there. That often time leads to the residents eating cheap, unhealthy fast food.
