Veterans with PTSD More Likely To Develop Addiction to Pain Medication

Veterans with PTSD and pain are more likely to receive prescriptions for opioid painkillers.
A new study has found that veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who suffer from mental health disorders such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder are more likely to use and abuse prescription pain medications.  The study found that doctors need to be more thorough in evaluating whether or not a sufferer of PTSD needs pain medication and if they are at risk to developing an addiction.
