In the month of October of 2011, an innovative simplified system for sheep cloning was introduced called Handmade Cloning (HMC). On March 26, 2012, scientists from the world's largest genomics organization and other institutions made a significant breakthrough in animal cloning using HMC. The world's first transgenic sheep, 'Peng Peng', was born in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Moreover, the genetic modification of transferring produced embryos may result in improved meat quality.
