Glow in the Dark Sharks
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/26/smalleye-pygmy-shark-glow-bioluminescent_n_1456279.htmlA certain species of shark has an interesting characteristic: it has organs that can radiate light. This is used as a defense mechanism: predators from below look up to see the shadow of prey against the bright background of the sun. This shark uses its organs to lighten up its belly, reducing visibility when viewed from below in the ocean. What's more, this is not always occurring. The organs are controlled by hormones in the shark's body.
