Estrogen Protecting the Brain after Trauma

One of the components of estrogen, the female sex hormone, may have some very interesting effects. An experiment on mice showed that an injection of estrogen into rats soon after a traumatic brain injury reduced inflammation and swelling in the skull, reducing the impact of such injuries. This may have serious implications for the treatment of brain trauma.
