Early Menopause Linked to Bone Fracture
A link has been found between menopause and the increased risk of bone fracture and osteoporosis. There was a study that after taking into account smoking and calcium intake, it was found that there was a strong coloration between the two. In this study, those who reached menopause before the age of 48 had an 80 percent chance or increased risk of osteoporosis, 68 percent risk of bone fracture, and then a 60 percent increased risk of death. The reasons still remain unclear, but it is thought that the hormonal changes significantly change the density of the bones.
