This article discusses a study that discusses the
effect of diet and smoking on MS progression.
Patients who regularly consumed alcohol, caffeine, and fish were less
likely to progress to a disabled stage while smokers progressed to disability
at a much more rapid rate than was predicted.
However, it should be noted that this was only the case with
remise-relapse MS and not primary progressive MS. Some critize that diet is simply a
coincidence, and the decrease in MS disabilities was due to other similar
healthy lifestyle choices. http://news.health.com/2012/03/30/diet-smoking-may-affect-ms-progression/
