Death & Life, Life & Death

Past research suggests that thinking about death is a bad thing because it leads us to being more prejudiced, greedy, or even violent. However, thinking about death can actually be a good thing. Being aware of such a natural happening can promote better health, stimulate motivation, and make us better people. Recent studies show thinking of death reminds people to make better decisions, especially ones that concern their health such as smoking less and increasing levels of exercise. Thinking of death may also help us prioritize our goals and values and appreciate life more! Read about this study which also looks at the thought of death from a subconscious perspective; walking by a cemetery could spark positive changes and behaviors.
