Warming Up Doesn’t Help Against Injury

The old statement that says warming up will reduce the risk of injury is under fire.  Warming up such as stretching will definitely increase an athlete’s range of motion and may psychologically make the athlete feel better, yet nothing suggests it decreases the risk of injuries.  Stretching may also reduce the level of soreness experienced by the athlete by making the muscle’s surrounding connective tissue more elastic, but as far as reducing injury is concerned, stretching has no current benefits.
