Smoking Rights and Economic Impact
This article talks about a smoking ban debate that is going on right now in Hannibal, MO. What is interesting about this case is that the city is pressing for a smoking ban, while there isn't a statewide ban yet. In this case the economic impact is fairly severe. When one city has a ban but nearby cities do not have bans, the smokers will take their business to the smoking-cities. The article profiles one restaurant owner who is against the bill for that very reason. She points out that it wouldn't be as tough on her business if it was statewide, but when it is only one city, it will have a severe economic impact. Overall, this is an interesting article that profiles an interesting smoking debate currently going on.
