On may 1st the USDA Forest Service released seven young Louisiana pine snakes in Kisatchie Nation Forest in Louisiana. These snakes came from the Memphis Zoo and are 6 months old and 3 feet long. This is the fourth release in two years which is part of the plan to restore this rare snake to its habitat in Louisiana. The population has decreased over the years, being almost endangered now, due to alterations of its longleaf pine habitat and its prey's habitat.
