New Melanoma Drug May Extend Survival

Melanoma that spreads is almost always fatal, but scientists found a new drug that supposedly can double the chance of survival for those with only skin melanoma.  Half the people with melanoma have this cancer due to a mutation in the BRAF protein; this drug, Zelboraf, blocks this mutation and prevents the melanoma from developing. They are in process of trials at this moment, but so far they have shown positive results.
