History of abortion in the United States

This article explains  the history of abortion in the U.S. It goes over all the changes of the law about abortion throughout the history of the U.S. Abortion was legal in the U.S until 1880.After that period various political reasons caused abortion to be illegal. One of those reasons was to confine women to their role of chilbearing. In the 1960's women movement started the movement to change the law against abortion and they succeeded. But all over the nation there are still extremist antiabortion. In May 2009, Dr. George Tiller was killed by extremist antiabortion because Dr.Tiller offered later abortions. This shows how this issue of abortion is still among the most controversial debate in the U.S.
