Three new studies suggest mutations in parts of genes that code for proteins - called the exome - play a significant role in autism. The results of these studies shows that is not about the size of the genetic mutations that influence autism but the location of the mutation. With 1 in 88 children having autism in the United States, many are searching for answers, while only 10% of cases of genetic factors. These mutations that have been found have most often been linked to the father and are influenced by father's age. The older the father, the more likely the mutation to have occured in the 549 families studied.
