Detecting Breast Cancer in a Droplet of blood

The earlier breast cancer is detected, the better, and doctors at McGill University are working to find a new way to detect cancer in an easy way. Identified as a biomarker for cancer, the protein Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is found in all humans. Doctors are working to find the precise way to meaure CEA and how it works with cancer. Experimentally, blood of healthy people and those with breast cancer have been tested. In the future, doctors hope to have a test that is simple and can be done in the doctor's office by a simple prick of the finger.
