A new type of medicine has reached Minnesota. The man in the picture, Alvin Carter, is the first patient in Minnesota to receive an artificial heart that will allow him to leave the hospital. Only 1000 patients in the world have received this treatment. This is only temporary, it keeps them alive until they get a human heart transplant. This has been developed since the 1980s and it is finally perfected to work.
