Goat Milk: The Cure for Malaria?

Mark Westhusin, a Texas A & M professor, is working on genetically modifying goats with the intention of producing a malaria vaccination in their milk. The new wave of genetically engineered "pharm animals" hopes to severely reduce drug production and storage costs, producing the drug for Third World demographics. Originally developed back in the late 1990s, the experiment ran into funding complications and had to be put on hiatus. Now with the project back up and running, Westhusin hopes to produce a drinkable vaccine within the decade.
